Five minute mindfulness tested over time.
5 Minute Mindfulness™ started as a working tool in clinical care, long before it became a curriculum, a card deck, or a digital course.
From clinical settings to classrooms
Written in clinical care
Robyn Hussa Farrell wrote and used 5MM™ directly with clients in eating-disorder and substance-use treatment centers and outpatient clinics, then began training licensed clinicians how to implement in their own clinical settings. She later contributed a chapter to Yoga and Eating Disorders: Ancient Healing for Modern Illness (Carolyn Costin & Joe Kelly).
Training the trainers
Robyn began leading train-the-trainer workshops so clinicians and educators could lead 5MM™ workshops to train other trainers safely and with fidelity. Over 5,000 educators and clinicians have been trained on the evidence-based model.
Going digital
The 5MM™ curriculum was digitized inside Sharpen in 2015 and has since reached more than 10,000 parents, educators, students, and veterans. Educators can now complete full 5MM™ training through Sharpen Professional Development course. Printed activity cards remain the most popular way people bring the practice into daily life.

What participants tell us after training.

Studied across the settings it's actually used in.
Dozens of research studies are currently underway examining 5MM™ across synchronous and asynchronous formats, including:
As an after-school resilience program for pre-K children (Bauer et al., 2019)
With school athletes (Patrizi et al., 2020)
To support the emotional wellness of foster parents (Biber, 2022) and educators (Bauer et al., 2022)
As a mental health literacy tool for college students (Biber, 2022) and medical students (Fadel et al., 2019)
With veterans and their spouses (Burnette et al., 2017)
